Artist's Biography

Jasyn Lucas Born in Flin Flon Manitoba on May 3rd 1979. Jasyn grew up in Thompson, Manitoba where he would graduate from R.D Parker Collegiate in 1997. While in Thompson his earliest influences came from Northern Artists such as Eddie Munroe, Jeff Monias and Earl McKay. He took his first painting lessons with Earl McKay when he was 12. Later, the work of international artists Terry Isaac and Robert Bateman would inspire Jasyn.

In the summer of 1998 Jasyn moved to North Vancouver where he would attend the Studio Art Program at Capilano College. He studied different applications such as Printmaking, Drawing, Sculpture and Painting. He also studied Art History and he graduated from the program in 2003. After which he would return to Thompson.

Jasyn has been spending the last 3 years working as a full time artist. He has won a variety of awards including 3 peoples choice awards, two through the Northern Juried Art Show and one through the Manitoba Arts Network Rural and Northern Show. He is also the proud recipient of a 2008 Youth National Aboriginal Achievement Award in Visual Arts. He continues to have group and solo shows across Canada.
